Counselling

I offer counselling in my Murwillumbah practice that blends the insight and advocacy skills of social work with the depth and care of professional counselling. This integrated approach allows us to address both the practical challenges you face and the impact they bring - supporting you to navigate your concerns, and find strategies for personal growth and wellbeing.

Individual counselling - face to face in the Murwillumbah Tweed Region

I provide counselling that integrates the practical problem-solving and advocacy strengths of social work with the emotional insight and strategies of professional counselling. Whether working with individuals or families, my approach addresses both the external challenges—such as life transitions, relationship changes, workplace issues, or access to resources—and the internal impacts, including stress, anxiety, grief, or conflict.

By looking at the whole picture, we can uncover the connections between your circumstances and your wellbeing, and create practical, compassionate pathways forward. My goal is to help you feel supported, heard, and equipped with tools that work in everyday life

The ability to identify, understand and regulate (and experience) our own emotions is an important key to unlocking the mystery behind our feelings and moods, and better responding to the people and world around us. It’s also the secret to finding our own happiness.

Counselling for individuals, couples, and families in the Murwillumbah and Tweed region

With clinical training in family therapy and a social work–integrated approach, I support individuals, couples, and families to better understand and improve their relationships. As a relationship therapist, I work with you to explore interpersonal dynamics, patterns, and challenges, and to build and maintain healthy, fulfilling connections.

My approach combines empathy with evidence-based family therapy practices and the broad perspective of social work - addressing communication issues, emotional complexities, and personal growth while also recognising the social and practical contexts of your life. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore concerns, resolve conflict, and strengthen bonds. Whether you’re seeking to deepen your connection, navigate a difficult period, or rebuild trust, I offer guidance tailored to your unique needs, helping you foster stronger, more resilient relationships.

STUDY AND EXPERIENCE

As a registered social worker with a Bachelor of Social Work with First Class Honours and a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to my practice and have been providing counselling services in the community for over 20 years.

My training spans various therapeutic modalities, including family systems therapy (advanced clinical practice), psychodynamic therapy, brief therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, yoga therapy, trauma-sensitive yoga, and professional supervision. I am dedicated to continuous professional development and my own personal growth.

My academic background includes a degree in environmental science with a major in social studies, reflecting my passion for environmental and social regeneration. This passion informs my holistic approach to counselling, which considers the interconnectedness of individual well-being and environmental sustainability.

While I am equipped to address a wide range of issues, my extensive experience in leading a women's not-for-profit (Working Women’s Centre) for over 15 years has given me valuable insights into gendered workplace and personal issues, including domestic and family violence, sexual assault, and the impact of cultural and societal norms on women's self-worth and well-being. I believe in the importance of systemic change alongside personal growth, recognising that resolving internal conflicts and doing inner work is also essential for creating a world where all individuals can thrive.

I welcome all individuals and group configurations in my practice, including families, couples, communities, special interest groups, and workplaces (EAP).

Please note that while I no longer accept GP referrals through the Better Access Program, I am happy to collaborate with medical professionals and other allied health workers to support your holistic well-being journey.
